Terms & conditions

The terms on which we quote for and carry out your job. Last updated January 2026.

1. Who you are contracting with

Your contract is with Steve The Greek Removals Ltd of 230 Belsize Rd, London NW6 4BT, trading as Steve The Greek.

2. Quotes

A quote is fixed against the information you give us: the inventory, the addresses, the floors, the lift, the carry distance, the parking and the date. It is valid for the period shown on the quote itself. If any of those facts turn out to be materially different on the day — an extra room, a loft that was not mentioned, a lift that is out of service — we will tell you the revised price and get your agreement before continuing. We will never present you with a larger bill at the end without having agreed it first.

3. Deposits, payment and cancellation

  • A deposit secures your van and your date. The balance is due before or on the day.
  • Change your date free of charge up to 48 hours before the booked window.
  • Cancel more than 48 hours before and your deposit is refunded in full.
  • Cancel inside 48 hours and the deposit is retained, because the slot was held and other work was turned away.
  • Business accounts on agreed terms are invoiced; late payment carries statutory interest.

4. What we will not carry

Cash, jewellery, deeds, live plants in transit over four hours, illegal items, hazardous or explosive materials, asbestos, and clinical waste. Please carry anything irreplaceable yourself — we keep two passenger seats free for exactly this.

5. Insurance and liability

Goods in transit cover up to £1,000 is included on every job, upgradeable to £10,000 or £50,000 at the point of quote. We carry £5m public liability. We are not liable for damage to items you packed yourself where the packing was the cause, for pre-existing damage, or for goods left in storage beyond the cover you selected. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

6. Claims

Tell the crew before they leave site if something is damaged, so it can be photographed onto the proof-of-delivery record. Written claims must reach us within seven days of the job. We aim to settle within ten working days of receiving the evidence.

7. Access, parking and waiting

You are responsible for arranging legal access and parking at both ends, including any permit, dispensation or bay suspension. Where we arrange one for you it is billed at cost. Waiting time beyond the first 15 minutes at each end, caused by matters outside our control, is charged in quarter-hour increments at the rate shown on your quote.

8. Delays

We give a time window, not a time. Traffic, weather, road closures and earlier jobs overrunning all happen in London. We will keep you informed and you can watch the van on your tracking link. We are not liable for consequential losses such as missed appointments.

9. Waste clearance

We are a registered waste carrier and issue a transfer note for every load. You warrant that waste handed to us is correctly described and contains nothing hazardous.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
